Donate Organs.. Save Lives: Parul Sevashram Hospital; Parul University celebrated “Organ Donation Awareness Week” by doing multiple activities and educating the people

Organ and tissue donation is more important than many of us realize—for society and for the individuals it directly affects. There are many individuals waiting for an organ transplant to live healthier, more productive lives

Organ donation allows recipients to live longer and have a higher quality of life. A transplant may either save or alter a person’s life. Awareness on organ donation, is therefore the only way out of this depressing scenario. The more potential donors there are, the more the likelihood of organs becoming available to save lives. Unfortunately, very less people in India have any idea about organ donation, or how they could potentially help after their deaths.

Parul Sevashram Hospital; Parul University celebrated “Organ Donation Awareness Week” by doing multiple activities and educating the people on organ donation.. The students and staff depicting importance of organ donation initiated a rally inside the campus. Expert talk was arranged where “Deshmukh Dada ; a social activist”  addressed the crowd regarding the facts / current scenario of Organ Donation along with Dr. Rashesh Desai (Kidney transplant surgeon) who shared the insights about different ways of kidney transplant and stressed upon the cadaveric transplant. The university’s technical event cell coordinated various other activities like Drama and Role Play on Myths and facts of organ donation in nearby villages, gardens and malls. Poster and slogan competition on the similar theme were organized thereby inculcating awareness in young minds ! We felicitated the families of organ donors to recognize their efforts for the society. Innovative approaches also highlighted having our own Mobile application on giving information on organ donation and directing to the pledge of organ donation.

It is the human aspect of donation and transplantation—helping people. It is the right thing to do. Let us vow that no one in India will ever die as a result of a lack of organs; mentioned Dr. Komal Patel (Medical Director at Parul Sevashram Hospital). She further announced the launch of a special marathon “Run for Organ Donation” which is to be scheduled in December 2023. Adding to this, she mentioned about the state-of-the-art kidney transplant unit at Parul Sevashram Hospital where 5 successful LIVE donor-related transplants have been done with an expert team of doctors and staff.
